Kayaga Beatrice is a Ugandan human rights lawyer with over six years’ experience in social justice and human Rights enforcement specifically women’s rights with a focus on law and policy reform, advocacy, and program implementation in Uganda. She has demonstrable and extensive experience conducting in-depth Research, advocacy and strategic litigation on varied human rights issues, including, reproductive justice, health and gender-based violence among others.

She previously worked with the Women’s Probono Initiative in Kampala where she led advocacy on impact litigations, conducted various investigations into human rights abuses such as sexual violence faced by persons with mental disabilities in Gulu District. She handled cases involving domestic violence, human trafficking, child marriages and as well as sexual violence. She has conducted litigation surgeries where lawyers who are like minded agree on issues to litigate in a case and develop an advocacy plan for the litigation. She has been exposed to research and evidence based advocacy on areas including sexual reproductive health, women’s rights, regional and international human rights. She has conducted community based mediations and has taught indigent women about their rights such as property rights, children’s rights in an intestate estate, access to justice, economic injustices faced by women in the informal sector and the solutions to overcome the gendered inequalities in employment in the informal sector.

Beatrice has an LLB (Hons) from Uganda Christian University and a postgraduate diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre in Kampala

She is currently a member of the GBV Prevention Network and her interests are Human rights and advocacy especially women’s rights online as well as children’s rights, activism for voices of marginalized group, data justice, cyber security, online Gender based violence.
